China's Social Engagement Leaders: the Chinese brands winning on social

Follower counts flatter; engagement converts. Totem's 2026 social analysis ranks 100 Chinese global brands by engagement rate across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, then combines them into a single cross-platform percentile score.

The leaders share a pattern: they win by turning a tight community into a distribution engine rather than chasing reach. ZTE RedMagic — the only brand to place top-five on every platform — tops the composite ranking at 98.2, ahead of cosplay label DokiDoki and drawing-tablet maker Huion.

Key findings

Community beats follower count

ZTE RedMagic built credibility by embedding with gamers — seeding reviews with tech creators, running a structured affiliate program, and letting hardware specs generate organic content. It doesn't chase followers; it converts a tight community into a distribution engine.

Electronics dominate — but not exclusively

OnePlus, Hisense, Ecoflow and ZTE RedMagic lead the platform tables, yet cosplay label DokiDoki (91.7), beauty brand Flower Knows, jeweller Chow Tai Fook and POP MART (88.1) show the same community mechanics work well beyond tech.

The product is the content

DokiDoki sells cosplay, so every customer is a creator; POP MART's blind-box unboxing is engineered for social, and Labubu's celebrity co-signs (BLACKPINK's Lisa, Rihanna) handed fans the cultural permission to take over from there — hundreds of millions of #PopMart views, almost none of it paid.

Credibility by association

Coros signed marathon great Eliud Kipchoge; Huion positioned as the affordable alternative to Wacom and let digital artists drive advocacy through YouTube speedpaints. Anchoring to a credible community or figure repeatedly out-performs paid reach.
