Wilson Is Defending Its Claim on Tennis Culture
Wilson’s ACE Girl Tournament landed in Guangzhou this April — a female-focused tennis event designed less as a traditional activation and more as community infrastructure.
The format was the strategy:
• Amateur competition with tiered play
• Tennis-native KOC coaching instead of celebrity appearances

• Product trial zones and social-first brand spaces
• Workshops, photography, and shared experiences built around participation
Wilson is Tennis
As tennis grows in China, more sportswear and lifestyle brands are trying to attach themselves to the culture surrounding the sport.

For Wilson, a core tennis brand, events like ACE Girl are about defending ownership of tennis communities before newer entrants define them instead.
The activation wasn’t built around advertising. It was built around identity formation — turning casual players into participants who feel connected to tennis culture itself.

Brands like Wilson that pin their identity so close to a specific sport/activity need to doggedly defend their 'ownership' of the space. So, I hope they can build this into a core, sustainable effort - over the long term.
