Saucony enters Hong Kong

Saucony · Jul 2026

...And Xtep extends its reach beyond the mainland

Saucony's Hong Kong flagship arrived with a lot of attention.

Its an impressive first step into Hong Kong; premium location at K11 Art Mall, stone and concrete textures pulled from HK streets, exclusive colorways, and a local "852" challenge.

There's a lot of confusion in the market about what Xtep is actually doing with Saucony. So let me try to provide some insight ...

What's really happening?

Xtep has done a marvelous job scaling Saucony in mainland China ...but it's doing so in concert with the global brand owner, Wolverine, in what amounts to a holistic lift for the brand across every market. This is a story of two operators improving one brand at the same time, Xtep in China, Wolverine Globally.

The structure matters, because it's often misread.

Xtep's stake in Saucony is very different from many other well known China-connected labels. Anta, through Amer Sports, owns Arc'teryx outright and globally.

Xtep doesn't own Saucony

It operates the brand in Greater China under license from Wolverine, and holds a 40% position in the regional IP. Xtep controls a territory; Anta controls a company. Xtep has done a fabulous job in building the brand in China but its hitting its geographic limits.

Saucony is a clear focus for Xtep

In 2025 the mass-market Xtep core grew just 1.5%, near-flat under mainland discounting, while the Saucony-led Professional Sports segment jumped 30.8%. By extending Saucony's footprint into Hong Kong, Xtep is leaning harder on its only real growth engine.

And it's happening while Saucony flourishes globally

Under Wolverine, the brand posted a record 2025. Global revenue was up 31.1% to US$533M, strong across the US and international markets, guided toward US$600M in 2026.

China side and global side moving in concert, as Saucony gains attention across all markets.

Next question will be whether Xtep can add additional geographies (eg. Asia).

And, if they can add enough regions + enough growth, could they position themselves to buy-out Wolverine globally?
