Why Salomon’s first global “skiing + trail running” dual-concept store matters
The opening of Salomon’s global-first “滑雪 + 越野跑” DUAL FLAGSHIP at Chengdu Taikoo Li (Dec 25, 2025) feels very deliberate — and very China-specific.
Right now, China’s athleisure and outdoor market is crowded, style-led, and increasingly noisy. In that context, Salomon’s smartest move isn’t to chase generic “urban outdoor” aesthetics — it’s to double down on what competitors can’t easily copy.
By explicitly pairing skiing with trail running, Salomon is:
- Re-anchoring the brand in alpine credibility, not just lifestyle
- Framing running as part of a broader mountain experience set

- Using skiing — aspirational in China — as a brand authority engine

The store’s “Interstellar Gateway” concept reflects their efforts in bringing the alpine to the city ...with a mirrored portal between city and mountain, past and future, performance and culture.
In a market full of interchangeable “outdoor-inspired” brands, Salomon is saying: this is where we come from. Skiing is acting as a halo for the entire range.
