Cultural marketing

Noticing a pattern in running culture: it's no longer just about miles logged — it's about when and how those miles fit into other areas of life...

Salomon · Apr 2026

Salomon's "Runner's Realm" (跑者之境) pop-up in Shanghai leans directly into this trend.

Built around a "Day-to-Night Running" concept, the experience merges urban and trail environments through a set of mirrors, shifting light, and time-based visuals. The effect is to turn running day or night into a ritual that fits any hour of the day, and perhaps expanding the timeframe and routine of a daily jog.

Salomon has a positioning tension to resolve as urban running is the main prize in China's quickly growing outdoor/sports scene.

Its a technical trail brand trying to hold relevance in Chinese cities where running culture increasingly lives at night, in crews, and after hours. "Runner's Realm" aims at extending Salomon into this new territory.

And Salomon isn't alone in making this move:

From performance → lifestyle integration

From daylight activity → night experience coupled with social life

From solo pursuit → shared cultural behavior

HOKA, On, and New Balance are all working the same seam — embedding running into post-run drinks, late-night loops, and community meetups. Salomon's version keeps the elevation.
