PANE is building a firm footing in China

PANE · May 2026

Footwear and fashion brand PANE ranks #243 in Totem's China's Global Brands index. While it is quickly gaining international attention, its building a foundation at home first before going global more fully.

Latest opening: April 2026 at MixC in Shenzhen

One of China's most talked-about emerging footwear brands isn't chasing global distribution. Its latest move — a flagship store at Shenzhen Bay MixC — is part of a deliberate effort to build a firm foundation at home before expanding outward.

PANE has concentrated its retail footprint across China's anchor markets — deliberate positioning in premium hubs, each store carrying a distinct spatial concept, none of them accidental.

Discipline before dispersion

The PRC brands beginning to separate themselves for long-term global success resist spreading thin too early. They concentrate resources — creative, financial, operational — into fewer markets, especially at early stages of growth, building cultural legibility before attempting international translation.

With China as a first clear goal PANE's international roadmap is clear — Thailand first, then Europe and the US — suggests they understand this logic. Incubate. Prove the model. Then move.

When that international expansion begins in earnest, #243 won't hold. I would expect them to shoot up the rankings very quickly in the coming years.

PANE is tracked in Totem's China Goes Global brand universe — 500+ brands navigating global markets across 10 categories.
