Nike × SKIMS in Seoul

Nike · Mar 2026

A strategic alignment with aesthetic performance?

The Drop

Nike and SKIMS launched their latest Nike X SKIMS collection via a pop-up in Seongsu, Seoul (Feb 26 – Mar 9).

Positioned in one of Seoul’s most fashion-forward districts, takes aim at a style-led, Gen Z audience.

The world of athleisure wear and training have becoming increasingly nuanced over the past few years, with yoga (as a core) splintering into new areas, including ballet. This collaborations takes aim at this blurring of the lines and growth of sub-categories.

The Spring 2026 collection spans apparel, accessories, and now footwear, with the debut of the “Rift Satin;” body-contouring silhouettes, and ballet-inspired movement.

The drop is amplified through SKIMS’ influencer ecosystem and Nike’s global reach — reinforcing its sport × fashion positioning.

Why this matters for Nike:

Nike did not connect quickly enough with the rise of athleisure ( & yoga) - ultimately forfeiting a large domain to Lululemon.

Collaborations like this represent important 'bets' for Nike in connecting with next wave, female focused trends/design.

For Nike this is a strategic alignment (correction):

performance → aesthetic performance

sport → everyday wear

adding body-first design capability

Not chasing Lululemon directly — but positioning for the next wave of growth.
