Miele's Shanghai Activation Links Laundry Care to Utility & New Trends

Miele · Oct 2025

Last weekend, Miele launched a "Cashmere Wash Experience Lab" in Shanghai, in collaboration with the Chinese heritage brand ERDOS 1980. The pop-up combined a functional care workshop with a lifestyle-oriented café.

The activation is anchored to a couple of key insights/trends, by:

1. Following the changes in clothing styles & values, connecting to the rising trend toward comfortable, quality outdoor wear (wool and other timeless basics are performing well)

2. Taking a more localized angle by partnering with Chinese luxury clothing brand ERDOS 1980

Demonstrating value/utility:

Where previous campaigns from high-end home appliance brands like Miele might have focused purely on image and prestige, this efforts signals a shift toward function, value and connection to current lifestyle issues.

This activation fits with a consumer mindset in China which is focused on value-focused purchases. In the fashion space, people have adopted an 'investment dressing' mindset, choosing products which are timeless and have staying power.

In this context, Miele is positioning itself as a trusted companion tool for maintaining valued clothes.
