Kodak lands (back) at Kai Tak in Hong Kong

Kodak · Jan 2026

In January 2026, Kodak officially landed in Hong Kong with its first physical concept store at Kai Tak's AIRSIDE, following strong lifestyle momentum with flagships in South Korea and Japan.

Hong Kong was a smart next spot for plugging into this wave of nostalgia.

...The city was once awash with Kodak ads - on billboards, lightboxes - with film counters woven into everyday urban life. I remember visiting in the 90s ...and you can still see figments of this if you visit today!

In that sense, Kodak's new shop feels like it’s summoning the spirits of Hong Kong’s heydays, when film, neon, and street life defined the city’s visual rhythm.

Framed around “Old Light, New Life,” the space reworks Kodak’s analog soul into a retro-culture lifestyle hub: film-lab industrial cues, tactile materials, and iconic yellow-and-red accents.

I hope they (at some point) do some ads on the trams!
